Rimac Nevera hits 258mph to become world’s fastest production electric car

The Rimac Nevera has officially hit a GPS-verified 258mph top speed, making it not only the world’s fastest accelerating production car, but the fastest production EV too. The news comes as first customer cars hit the road, with the first production example delivered to F1 World Champion Nico Rosberg earlier this year.

Driven by the Rimac’s Chief Test and Development Driver Miro Zrnčević at Automotive Testing Papenburg in Germany, the Nevera achieved the feat in factory form, only set to top speed mode for the most favourable high speed aerodynamic profile. Its tyres were standard, road-legal Cup 2Rs, with the test overseen by Michelin technicians and verified with a GPS-based Racelogic V-Box.
