Imported by MASARI INTERNATIONAL and used as a test demonstrator vehicle, this car is exceptional for its age, and will give the lucky new owner trouble free service for years to come.

I have used this vehicle daily, to evaluate the advantages of owning a vehicle like this as opposed to a petrol or diesel powered vehicle of a similar size. There is plenty of upside, the main advantage being no more visits to a gas station to fork out my hard earned money to fill a petrol tank; there isn’t one on an electric vehicle. On that score I am saving around $100 per week measured by current gas prices, that’s a saving of $5200 per year, minus the charges for electricity which vary depending on what provider you are with.

On the downside, I have to plug in my mobile charger at home every second or third night to top up the electric battery. This is not a time consuming job, simply plug in the 8 amp mobile charger to any 3 pin house plug for an overnight charge and you’re good to go again. I will give the mobile charger to the buyer of this vehicle at no extra cost.

This particular model of Nissan Leaf has the upgraded 30kWh battery which provides a range of 150kms or a little more given the conditions the vehicle is used in on any particular day. Driving this vehicle has been interesting. There is a steep hill from my house to the main road which takes energy to drive up. The range can fall by 5km to 8km by the time you get to the top of the hill. The rest of my journey to the office is on motorway with a few downhill stretches, through regenerative braking the range increases, gaining back some of the range lost in the uphill part of the journey.

The available EV Chargers around the country now, make trips in an electric vehicle more convenient. The key is to plan your trip. If you give yourself an hour to recharge while you have a coffee and refreshments the experience can be a pleasant one. Again, planning is the key.
